South America has six FIFA project quotas for the World Cup 2026

The FIFA Council Committee presented on Thursday the draft quotas between the different confederations to participate in the World Cup to be held in 2026.
The commission composed of FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the presidents of the different confederations stipulated that after the approval of the World Cup with 48 teams, the quotas will be distributed as follows: UEFA (16 seats), Africa (9 seats), Asia (8 seats), Concacaf and Conmebol (6 seats), Oceania (1 seat).
For the remaining two squares, a repechage tournament will be set up, involving six countries, one for each confederation except UEFA, where an additional quota of the confederation that hosts the World Cup will be added.
The agreements adopted must be ratified by the Council itself at the meeting scheduled for 9 May in Bahrain.
