Three people have been arrested as accomplices of the suicide bomber who attacked the subway.

Russia’s Investigation Committee (IC), which investigates the attack on the subway, has confirmed the arrest of several people who had contacts with Akbarzhon Dzhalilov, the suspect responsible for the blast. Dzhalilov was a native of Kyrgyzstan’s Central Asian Republic, although since 2011 he lived in Russia and had the nationality of this country. Police believe he became radicalized in Islam after a month in his hometown.
«Several citizens of Central Asian republics who had contacts with Dzhalilov have been identified. Relevant objects for the investigation have been found in the apartment register,» a spokeswoman for the Instruction Committee told Efe.
The security operation deployed after the attack on Monday has been solved so far with the arrest of eleven people. Eight suspects were arrested on Wednesday to recruit fighters and terrorists for the Islamic State and other terrorist organizations. However, the investigators did not say whether those detainees had anything to do with the attack by Dzhalilov.
Security has been reinforced in the subway of St. Petersburg since the attack on Monday. This Thursday, an old grenade that a passenger carried in a bag was detected during an X-ray inspection. However, it was a World War II artifact that did not represent a real danger.
