The crime of the Uruguayan child Felipe Romero at the hands of his coach of his baby soccer club

The case of 10-year-old Felipe Romero, who was found dead on Saturday after being kidnapped by his football club coach, is shocking.

Felipe Romero was repeatedly sexually assaulted and shot dead in the head.

This was confirmed by the medical examiner of Maldonado (Uruguay), Sergio Mozzo, who was in charge of the autopsy.

Romero was kidnapped by Fernando Sierra, with whom he had an almost paternal relationship, last Thursday, April 20.

After being missing for two days, their bodies were found on Saturday.

Last Thursday, Sierra removed the child from the school where he attended, in Maldonado, and for two days nothing was known about them.

The bodies of both were found in Villa Serrana, a tourist area of sierras about 150 kilometers from Montevideo, the Uruguayan capital.

«The adult was back to the ground and the boy, face down, semi hugging the man with his head near his chest,» Mozzo told BBC World.

The child had a bruise on his head from the «bullet hole leaving a bruise on the scalp,» he added.

Sierra, whom the boy called dad, had the full confidence of the mother, Alexandra Perez.

However, everything changed when Felipe’s psychologist advised the mother to stop seeing Sierra alone.
Statements

The investigation by the Maldonado quarterly criminal judge, Adriana Morosini, tries to determine what led to this tragic outcome.

Morosini announced that he will make a statement to the environment of the minor.

«We asked the medical examiner to expand the report, the child’s teacher and the school principal, and the psychologist who had apparently given a report to the mother in the previous week. Morosini to BBC Mundo.

The judge does not know why the mother consulted a psychologist for Felipe.

However, Alexandre Perez told the newspaper Clarín of Buenos Aires that she had taken her son to a professional because «he began to notice that he acted with more authority than he was entitled to.»

And the psychologist recommended that Felipe stopped seeing his coach alone, but did not give more details.

Felipe is also the son of the local exfutbolista known Luis Romero and knew Sierra in 2015, in the Defender Club of Maldonado, where he was his coach of baby soccer.

According to the mother told the newspaper El País of Montevideo, Sierra had threatened to kill himself after informing him that he could not continue to see his son alone.

The coroner confirmed to BBC Mundo that the child was sexually abused.

«There was a violation. The marks that were found on the child showed an erosion that was possibly the same day or the day before,» Mozzo said.

And they would not have been the only ones.

«He also had signs of having been repeatedly abused by the dimensions of the genital part, the loss of folds in the anal margin that indicate there may be abuse of more time,» he added.

This observation will be confirmed with the final result of the autopsy which, according to Mozzo, will take at least one week.

Tranquilizers

Another finding at the crime scene were the tranquilizer pills that were sent for analysis.

«We found in the pocket of the adult, two blisters of a minor natural tranquilizer but in a child can have a greater effect.» And in the pocket of the child’s shirt, a blister pack that was missing seven tablets, Mozzo described.

«We assume he gave it to the child, the autopsy will confirm it,» he added.

«We are investigating the source, because the weapon (caliber 22) does not figure in the service of armament material in his name,» Morosini said.

«We can not determine whether the man planned the crime in advance at this time and may be difficult to determine, although there are ongoing investigations,» she said.
